Village fete Saturday

The weather was much kinder than last year even if rather windy.

Thank you to everyone who donated cakes, bottles, chocolate, plants and raffle prizes and for coming along and spending some money.

Thank you for the loan of gazebos, movement of tables etc, manning stalls and of course to Jacqui and James for the use of their field and facilities again.

Stephan and Cora from ‘Wiltshire Mind’ opened the fete for us and were delighted with a lovely bouquet of garden flowers and a button-hole made by Sarah and presented by Abigail. ‘Wiltshire Mind’ provides one to one counselling and group counselling in our local area and relies solely on donations. Stephan thanked us for the donation we’d sent in January after our Christmas fund raising events and was grateful that we were holding a fete to donate more. They both thought that we lived in a lovely village with a great community.

Many villagers, friends and families came along and enjoyed themselves, taking part in the games, winning bottles, drinking tea/coffee, buying plants and books. Helpers enjoyed a fish and chip supper with desserts in the evening at Susie’s to finish off the day. Thank you, Susie for hosting.

We raised a couple of pounds over £700 – well done. We will add to this the money from Ladies club bring and buy in April and a donation from the coffee morning group. This means that in a couple of weeks or so (there are often payment for left over plants and the odd donation after the event) we will be able to send a little over £600 to ‘Wiltshire Mind’ and give £200 plus a little to the Village Hall – our fund raising is always split 75/25 in this way.
